Last year, my most requested spot for Colorado Springs senior photos was Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center and Stratton Open Space, and honestly, they never disappoint. As a Colorado Springs senior photographer, I love how these locations give so much variety in one session.
Starsmore sits right at the base of Helen Hunt Falls in the Cheyenne Mountain area, giving you the best of Colorado nature all in one place. There are charming bridges, a flowing stream you can step into, and beautiful trees that frame every shot perfectly.
Even the cement stairs add a fun twist. They bring a subtle urban element that contrasts beautifully with the greenery, giving your gallery a mix of natural and structured shots — not just “standing in a field” the whole time.
If you’re up for a little adventure, there’s a small waterfall about 20 minutes up the mountain. It’s an easy, steady walk, and the waterfall is definitely worth it. Just bring comfy shoes, and we’ll decide together if we want to go for it.
Only a few minutes away, Stratton Open Space offers open fields, mountain views, and wide Colorado skies. Pairing both locations gives your session incredible variety — woods, water, stairs, and open space all in one day.
I recommend afternoon sessions here, especially if we’re visiting both spots. The light gets softer and warmer, giving everything that natural golden glow.
If you’re a Colorado Springs senior who wants photos that feel natural, fun, and a little different, this area is an amazing choice. It’s versatile, beautiful, and always delivers a gallery you’ll love — exactly what I aim to provide as your Colorado Springs senior photographer.
